12 creepy recently discovered species
Scientists have named and cataloged around 1.3 million species and every year more than 15,000 new ones get added to the list. Here are a few extra freaky new lifeforms that were discovered in recent years.
+Tube-nosed fruit bat a.k.a the Yoda bat found in Papua, New Guinea.
+Fathead sculpin, a.k.a. Mr Blobby, found in New Zealand.
+A tree frog found in the Foja Mountains.
+Leaf-nosed bat found in Chu Mom Ray National Park
+Flamingo tongue snail found in the British West Indies. Amazing print, almost looks designer!
+The shocking pink dragon millipede, yes, that’s its real name, found in the Greater Mekong region.
+Lesula monkey found in Democratic Republic of Congo. We wish they would have called this the Nicholas Cage monkey instead. Twinsies!
+A caecilian, a limbless amphibian found in Brazil. More commonly known as the penis snake (we wonder why).
+Chinchilla tree rat (Cuscomys ashaninka) found near Machu Picchu.
+Cyclops shark found in Mexico. Up to now only embryos have been found. The 22-inch-long (56-centimeter-long) fetus has a single, functioning eye at the front of its head.
+Clione limacina a.k.a. Sea Angel, found at about 1,148 feet (350 meters) underwater in the Arctic Ocean.
